Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support a decentralized, patient-centered care approach under RN supervision. You will measure and document vital signs, identify patient concerns, and report them to the care team. You will assist with moving patients and maintaining comfort and safety.

Strong communication, empathy, and organizational skills are essential. You will collaborate with the Nurse Manager and Charge Nurse to ensure smooth operations

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• One year of patient care work experience in a health care facility preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Keep patient rooms tidy and sanitized.
• Assist patients with daily activities (hygiene, bathroom, grooming).
• Monitor vital signs and report abnormalities to the care team.
• Assist nursing staff with basic treatments and procedures.
• Ensure adequate patient care supplies and clean linen.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families.
• Monitor patients on cardiac monitors when required.
• Assist with specimen collection and basic bedside tasks.
