Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in College Station is seeking a Patient Care Tech / Health Unit Coordinator to support nurses, deliver patient care, and assist with daily activities.

This full-time night shift rotates weekends and includes training; you will help with ADLs, vital signs, rounds, and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Less than 1 year of experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collects and records patient data, including vital signs.
• Assists patients with ADLs: bathing, dressing, toileting, transfers.
• Responds to call lights and conducts regular patient rounds.
• Provides hygiene care and assists with patient clean-up.

“We are looking for candidates who can commit to full-time hours, working three days per week with rotating weekends, and who have flexibility in their availability. This role also requires a minimum of one full week of training.”

Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician handles various duties under a licensed nurse's supervision. Helps deliver patient care and meet family needs. Follows the care plan, considering the patient's age and development stage.

What can you expect to do as a Patient Care Tech?

• Collects and records patient data, including vital signs.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, toileting, and transferring.
• Responds to call lights and conducts regular patient rounds.
• Provides personal hygiene care and assists with patient clean-up.
• Adheres to Baylor Scott & White policies and procedures.
• Performs glucose monitoring and collects specimens as requested.
• Will be required to directly support multiple patients during each shift.

Other Duties That May Be Included

• Tracks and reports quality data for the unit.
• Completes and maintains files and forms for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Assigns phones and location devices to appropriate staff members.
• Maintains inventory, requisitions, and stocks supplies and equipment in the work area.
• Greets visitors and provides assistance.
• Answers telephones and communicates with the nursing team and medical staff using pagers, and cell phones, based on department needs.
