Job summary

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission in Kansas is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support nurses in delivering compassionate care in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will take vital signs, document in the electronic medical record, follow policies, and assist with patient comfort and safety under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Prior PCT experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient care under licensed nurse supervision.
• Accurately take vital signs and document in the EMR.
• Record procedures accurately per department policy.
• Perform duties and patient care according to policy and procedure.
• Respond to clinical emergencies within scope.
• Support quality improvements and uphold standards.
• Follow CDC isolation guidelines and PPE protocols.
• Learn and upgrade skills continuously.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care team.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment for patients and staff.
• May perform point-of-care testing per competency.

Job Description

• Assists in the delivery of patient care by performing tasks under the direction of a licensed nurse.
• Accurately performs vital signs and documents in the electronic medical record
• Documents and reports all procedures accurately and in accordance with department policy.
• Perform duties and patient care according to policy and procedure.
• Functions appropriately within scope in clinical emergencies
• Participate in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.
• Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand hygiene according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills continuously.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
• May perform point of care testing based on competency and hospital policy.

• NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Preferred] OR NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) [Preferred] OR AMCA Patient Care Technician Certification (PCT-C) [Preferred]
• Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT) [Preferred]

Pay Range

$16.42 - $26.28
