The position is full-time and on-site, with days that vary and a 7am–7pm schedule. Training, mentorship, and collaboration with the care team are essential to help implement care plans for young patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Collects and records routine patient data under supervision to ensure accuracy of patient charts.
• Performs basic patient care activities to support comfort and safety of patients.
• Mentors students and new employees, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster learning.
• Identifies and reports unusual findings or symptoms to the supervising healthcare professional for timely intervention.
• Maintains inventory of stock items, supplies, and equipment for efficient unit operation.
• Participates in in-service programs and daily rounds to stay aligned with care plan changes and expectations.
• Maintains the unit's environment and supports hospital systems and processes for patients and families.
• Provides patient/family education on basic procedures and everyday living safety.

Position Summary

This position performs a variety of direct patient care services to assist in the implementation of selected portions of the care plan as directed and supervised by a Clinical Nurse.

Position Duties

• As directed and supervised by healthcare professional, collects and records a variety of routine patient data to ensure ongoing accuracy of patient chart.
• As directed and supervised by healthcare professional, performs a variety of basic patient care activities to provide for optimal comfort and safety of the patient.
• Fosters a positive learning environment by modeling best practices and patient-centered care while providing guidance, training, and support to students and new employees through mentorship, clinical instruction, and knowledge sharing.
• Identifies and reports unusual findings or observations, clinical symptoms, behaviors, and treatment administered to appropriate healthcare professional to ensure timely and effective intervention.
• Maintains inventory levels of stock items, supplies, and equipment to provide for efficient and cost effective unit operation.
• Participates in a variety of in-service programs, meetings, conferences, and daily care rounds to maintain understanding of care plan changes, issues, and expectations.
• Performs a variety of activities to provide for the ongoing maintenance of the unit's environment.
• Provides orientation to the unit and hospital systems and processes to patients and family members to ensure familiarity with unit's policies and requirements.
• Reviews and reinforces with patient/family education of basic technical procedures, activities/safety of daily living to ensure understanding.
• Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
