Job summary

Advantest America Inc. is seeking a PCB Manufacturing Process Engineer (Mechanical & Laser Drilling) in South Plainfield, NJ.

You will develop and sustain drilling processes for Advanced PCBs used in semiconductor testing, partnering with Front End Engineering, Quality, CAM, Maintenance and Production to optimize capability and yield. The role covers mechanical and UV/CO2 laser drilling, process capability, and continuous improvement using SPC, DOE, Lean and Six Sigma.

Qualifications

Mechanical drilling and laser drilling experience in PCB fabrication.
Experience applying SPC, DOE, Lean and Six Sigma methodology.
Experience with root cause investigations and process capability.
Ability to document processes and lead cross-functional improvements.

Responsibilities

Develop, optimize, and control mechanical drilling processes for PCB fabrication.
Establish drilling parameters including spindle speeds, feed rates, stack heights, and tool selection.
Monitor drilling performance and drive continuous improvement for hole quality and productivity.
Troubleshoot burr formation, smear, breakout, drill breakage, and hole wall quality.
Support NPI by defining drilling requirements and capabilities.
Develop and optimize UV and CO2 laser drilling for HDI microvia.
Monitor microvia quality and yields; document process capability.
Lead root cause investigations using 8D, Fishbone, 5 Why and FMEA.
Develop specifications, control plans, and lead audits; drive KPI-driven improvements.
