Job summary

Xona, a leader in navigational intelligence, invites a PCB Layout Engineer to join our engineering team in Burlingame, CA. You’ll design PCB layouts, maintain libraries, and work with cross-functional engineers to deliver space-grade electronics for our Pulsar system.

We seek a BS in Electrical Engineering, 2+ years from schematic to manufacturing, and familiarity with Altium, Allegro, and PADS. You’ll collaborate on thermal, structural, and software interfaces and contribute to production-ready

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience taking designs from schematics to manufacturing.
• Familiarity with electrical design and simulation tools (Altium, Allegro, PADS).
• Fundamental understanding of electronics, power systems, and signal integrity; space-specific applications expected.
• Experience with embedded systems and peripheral interfaces (I2C, SPI, CAN, Ethernet, etc).

Responsibilities

• Design PCB layouts under guidance from electrical design engineers.
• Collaborate with structural, thermal, GNC, software teams on trade-offs and constraints.
• Maintain PCB libraries: symbols and footprints.
• Develop standardized fabrication and assembly note templates.
• Support PCB designs through fabrication.
• Assist design updates for production and manufacturing.
• Help source electrical components and ensure standards compliance.

Role Overview

We are looking for a PCB Layout Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will support Electrical design engineers with designing PCB layouts, maintain PCB libraries, and work with other disciplines to design an efficient and complete solution for our satellite system.

What You’ll Do:

• Design PCB layouts with direction from electrical design engineers
• Closely work with other disciplined engineers for PCB design trade offs and constraints (structural, thermal, GNC, software, etc)
• Maintain PCB libraries (create and define standards for symbols and footprints)
• Develop standardized fabrication and assembly note templates
• Support PCB designs through fabrication
• Support design updates for production and manufacturing
• Support the sourcing of electrical components and ensure they meet standards

What You Bring:

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 2+ years experience in taking designs from schematics to manufacturing
• Familiarity with electrical design and simulation tools (e.g., Altium, Allegro, PADS)
• Fundamental understanding of electronics, power systems, and signal integrity, with an eagerness to learn about space-specific applications
• Experience with embedded systems and peripheral interfaces (e.g, I2C, SPI, CAN, Ethernet, etc)
• A collaborative, team-oriented mindset and the ability to communicate effectively
• A passion for learning and growing in the aerospace industry
