What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll work closely with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineers to take products from design through prototype, validation, and production.
- Create and update electronic schematics using OrCAD Capture and Altium Designer.
- Design complex multilayer PCBs for analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power applications.
- Convert legacy PADS and OrCAD designs into Altium Designer.
- Create and maintain ECAD libraries, including symbols, footprints, 3D models, and component data.
- Develop PCB stackups with consideration for signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, thermal performance, and manufacturability.
- Perform electrical rule checks (ERC) and design rule checks (DRC).
- Create manufacturing documentation, including Gerber/ODB++ files, fabrication and assembly drawings, drill files, pick-and-place files, and BOMs.
- Work with electrical engineers on component selection, schematics, and PCB layout.
- Partner with mechanical engineers to ensure proper enclosure fit and connector alignment.
- Support prototypes, engineering validation, debugging, and production releases.
- Work with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Participate in engineering change orders and continuous product improvements.
What You Must Have
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of ECAD design experience.
- Strong experience with:
- OrCAD Capture
- PADS Professional / PADS Layout
- Experience with both schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Experience with mixed-signal, precision analog, embedded digital, high-current, or power electronics designs.
- Understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processes.
- Knowledge of IPC standards and DFM, DFA, and DFT principles.
- Ability to create complete manufacturing release packages.
