Qualifications

  • Strong background in electronics design including circuit design, electrical system design, schematic creation, and SMT (surface mount technology).
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks or equivalent for mechanical‑electrical integration.
  • Hands‑on experience with FPGA programming and digital logic design using SystemVerilog or VHDL.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes including NEC standards and NFPA 70 compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated debugging skills with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience in industrial/manufacturing engineering with automation or control systems exposure.
  • Scripting skills in Python or Perl for automation tasks and testing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop PCB layouts using CAD software, ensuring adherence to electrical and mechanical specs.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate system requirements into PCB designs.
  • Perform signal integrity analysis and root cause analysis for PCB performance issues.
  • Integrate FPGA, SoC, and programmable logic into system designs for optimized functionality.
  • Carry out electrical schematic design, simulation, and verification with MATLAB/Simulink/SystemVerilog/VHDL.
  • Prepare fabrication and assembly documentation in compliance with NEC/NFPA 70 standards.
  • Engage in prototyping, testing, debugging, and validation using relevant tools.
  • Apply mechanical knowledge to ensure proper enclosure integration using CAD tools.
  • Lead project scheduling to manage multiple design tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Conduct development verification and validation activities before mass production.

Waypoint’s client is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented PCB Design Engineer to join their innovative engineering team. Your expertise will drive the design, development, and optimization of complex PCB layouts, ensuring high performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop PCB layouts using advanced CAD software such as AutoCAD, Altium Designer, or similar tools, ensuring adherence to electrical and mechanical specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, firmware developers, and manufacturing specialists to translate system requirements into effective PCB designs.
  • Conduct thorough signal integrity analysis and root cause analysis to troubleshoot issues related to PCB performance and reliability.
  • Integrate FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array), SoC (System on Chip), and programmable logic controllers into system designs for optimized functionality.
  • Perform electrical schematic design, simulation, and verification using tools like MATLAB, Simulink, SystemVerilog, or equivalent.
  • Support manufacturing processes by preparing detailed fabrication and assembly documentation while ensuring compliance with electrical building codes such as NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70 standards.
  • Engage in engineering testing, debugging, and validation of prototypes using oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, firmware programming in C++, Python, Perl or similar scripting languages.
  • Apply mechanical knowledge using Revit, MicroStation, or SolidWorks to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within mechanical enclosures or assemblies.
  • Lead project scheduling efforts to meet deadlines while managing multiple design tasks efficiently.
  • Conduct system development verification and validation activities to guarantee product quality before mass production.
Required:
  • Proven experience designing PCBs for industrial automation, communications systems, or electronics manufacturing environments.
  • Strong background in electronics design including circuit design, electrical system design, schematic creation, and surface mount technology (SMT).
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks or equivalent for mechanical‑electrical integration.
