Our client is seeking an experienced PCB Design Engineer to support the development and layout of complex printed circuit boards. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled PCB designer with experience in advanced board layouts, high-speed digital designs, RF applications, and manufacturing processes.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Cadence Allegro PCB Designer/Editor, the ability to independently complete complex layouts, and a strong understanding of PCB fabrication, assembly, and design standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop PCB layouts from schematics, netlists, and engineering requirements with minimal supervision.
- Perform component placement and routing for complex multilayer printed circuit boards.
- Design high-density, controlled impedance, high-speed digital, RF, power, and mixed-signal layouts.
- Apply best practices related to signal integrity, power integrity, EMI mitigation, grounding, and thermal considerations.
- Generate complete fabrication and assembly documentation packages.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and manufacturing teams to resolve design challenges.
- Work with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors to address technical questions and production needs.
- Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) reviews.
- Incorporate engineering feedback and updates efficiently.
- Manage multiple design milestones while working within established development schedules.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of PCB layout/design experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Cadence Allegro PCB Designer/Editor.
- Experience independently completing complex PCB layouts.
- Strong understanding of IPC standards and PCB fabrication/assembly processes.
- Experience with multilayer board stackups, controlled impedance routing, and high-density designs.
- Experience working within structured design release and configuration management processes.
- Ability to quickly adapt to established libraries, processes, and design standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- IPC CID or CID+ certification.
- Experience with:
- RF layout and transmission line design
- BGA fan-out and fine-pitch components
- Power distribution networks and decoupling optimization
- Signal integrity and EMI/EMC considerations
- Fully onsite role in Germantown, MD.
