Salary: $16.50 - $19.00 / per hour
A Personal Care Assistant provides support services to assist clients with personal, physical mobility, and therapeutic care needs, as established by healthcare professionals. The role may involve working in various settings, including homes and schools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides assistance with daily activities to individuals in need
- Demonstrates competence in performing skills outlined in the care plan
- Performs health care tasks, personal hygiene services, and related support to maintain client health
- Assists with transfers and ambulation
- Supports teachers in helping students learn and provides feedback to students and staff
- Performs incidental household services as part of the care plan
- In school settings, accompanies students on buses
- Provides companionship through reading, listening, and talking with clients
- May supervise students during recess and lunch and accompany them on community activities
- Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA policies
- Assists clients in developing independence through self-care activities
- Implements behavior management techniques as directed
- Reports changes in client status as per care plan
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- State licensure or certification as required
- One year of relevant experience preferred
- Current BLS certification
- Current PPD or Chest X-Ray
- Knowledge of child growth and development
- Ability to coordinate services across multiple agencies
- Strong communication skills in English; proficiency may be required
- Computer proficiency
- Must be at least 18 years old
