Job summary

Scripps Health is hiring a Patient Care Assistant at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas in Encinitas, CA. This is a benefit-eligible, full-time role with 72 hours every two weeks and 12-hour night shifts from 6:30pm to 7:00am, including weekends and holiday rotation.

You will assist patients with daily living activities, take vital signs, and perform EKGs on a 36-bed unit serving postoperative and oncology patients. Collaboration and efficiency are essential in this team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider OR current enrollment or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school OR current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals.
• Must be able to speak, read and follow instruction in English.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care provider.
• One year of acute care experience.
• CNA Certification.

• Provides excellent service to patients as a key member of the clinical care team
• Assists patients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collects data, and ensures the patient has a safe, organized environment
• Assists with patient care within the scope permitted and under the direction of a clinician
• Supports the unit with a variety of patient logistic, clerical, equipment/supply, and charge reconciliation

The Medical Acute 2 West (formerly 2 North) team is seeking a Patient Care Assistant who is self-motivated and committed to providing exceptional patient care. In this role you will be assisting patients with their activities of daily living, performing vital signs, and performing EKGs. This 36 bed unit primarily hosts a post-operative and oncology patient population. We are looking for someone who can work efficiently and collaborate as a team.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

• One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider OR current enrollment or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school OR current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals.
• Must be able to speak, read and follow instruction in English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a service aptitude.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care provider

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

• One (1) year of acute care experience
• Multiple patient care skills
• CNA Certification
