Job summary

Beacon Health System is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) for Neuro/Ortho Care at Beacon Kalamazoo in Kalamazoo, MI. The role is full-time at 0.90 FTE with a night shift from 7:00pm to 7:00am.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED and at least six months of direct patient care experience. The PCA will assist with direct patient care, stock supplies, and communicate with patients and staff to ensure quality care, under supervision and according to policies.

Qualifications

About Beacon Kalamazoo

Beacon Kalamazoo provides 24/7 emergency care and a Level II Trauma Center. We deliver care for serious life-threatening injuries/illnesses, and your everyday health needs, including labor and delivery. We offer specialty care for heart/vascular disease, lung and sleep disorders, mental health conditions, and women’s health. We offer a wide range of outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging, lab tests, respiratorytherapyand rehabilitation therapy services

What You’ll Do

A PCA may be assigned a variety of duties designed to assist with the direct care of the patient under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures. The PCA orders and stocks unit supplies of all types needed for patient care and locates shared equipment within the hospital. The PCA understands that timely and efficient completion of these tasks is required for quality patient care. Interpersonal skills are necessary to communicate effectively and relate politely to patients, visitors and fellow staff members. The PCA adheres to Borgess Medical Center mission, vision and values.

PCA Job Responsibilities

• Complete orientation/training programs for the position as evidenced by completion of competencies.
• Work effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and promote collaboration and a positive work environment.
• Enter and retrieve patient information on computer.
• Complete CPI and be physically capable of implementing CPI techniques.
• Perform and assist with therapeutic and procedures.
• Observe and record pertinent information, consult with and report significant reactions and changes in patient condition to the appropriate Registered Nurse.
• Ensure that the patient's pain is reported to Licensed Nurse.
• Inventory, order, stock and locate various equipment and supplies needed for patient care.

What You Bring
