PC&L Specialist (Shipping and Receiving)– Seneca Battery-4

Location: Seneca, South Carolina | Employment type: Full-Time

Job Description

The PC&L Specialist (Shipping and Receiving) incumbent will be expected to perform all shipping and receiving duties, material movement to production line including repack and delivery, and maintaining inventory accuracy. The PC&L Specialist is expected to demonstrate the BW Core beliefs and be an example to all PC&L associates.

Responsibilities
  • Strong communication skills between teams, support groups and/or plant leadership teams.
  • Support and drive 5S / Housekeeping activities as required.
  • SAP entries and L2L (Leading to Lean) transactions required as needed (if applicable).
  • Support operations in gathering data, analyzing, and driving improvements with a focus on waste reduction, enabling material flow, quality, and cost throughout their area of support.
  • Create, analyze, and deliver reports impacting KPI’s to all levels of the organization to gauge effectiveness around continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate and share ideas generated by continuous improvement efforts throughout the Seneca Campus.
  • Support and drive self-development activities and department flexibility through learning multiple positions and supporting based on business need.
  • Safely operate all equipment and maintain certifications within the PC&L fleet including but not limited to: powered industrial equipment and BW company vehicle (where applicable).
  • Develop, maintain, and document PC&L department work instructions.
  • Provide support on inventory management by performing root cause analysis for all variations with inventory as needed.
  • Support and maintain Part Change Management and audit task performance to standards.
  • Attend daily operations meetings and perform other duties as assigned including operating P.I.T., material movement, PC&L Operator roles, etc.
Receiving Process
  • Fully understand the receiving/shipping process and work instructions to receive/ship material systematically and physically.
  • Manually load and unload material onto or from pallets, trays, racks, baskets, and shelves as required.
  • Transport materials from storage or point of use work areas.
  • Install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage of products in transit; identify/correct unsafe or damaged packaging conditions as needed.
  • Count, weigh, and record opened/unsealed materials for accurate SAP transactions and labeling.
  • Enter materials transactional information into SAP and other systems as required.
  • Read electronic and manual bill of materials, pull sheets, and pick sheets to retrieve and deliver necessary materials for operations.
  • Use deviation areas and hold tags to process defective parts through nonconforming material procedures.
  • Load/unload material into trailers adhering to Dock Safety Protocols and maintain FIFO standards.
  • Complete audits and hand-offs to peers as needed; perform container management duties if applicable.
Shipping Process
  • Accurately and timely send all Advanced Shipping Notice(s) (ASN) for shipments; hand write ASNs as required.
  • Create pick tickets daily and adjust loads based on finished goods availability.
  • Communicate with production when finished goods are low to meet customer shipments.
  • Proactively communicate with carriers for late or no-show trailers; monitor expedite entities for timely pickup.
  • Audit task performance to standards and coordinate shipping with 3PL as needed.
  • Serve as onsite contact with OEM carriers for trucks arriving outside their normal window and for OEM inquiries regarding AND.
  • Ensure all incoming and outgoing shipments are properly labeled with correlating documents and enter material transactional information into SAP and other systems as required.
  • Use deviation areas and hold tags for nonconforming parts; maintain FIFO standards across storage and material flow points.
  • Assist in training and educating department staff.
Battery Operation
  • Repack material to production-line quality standards and maintain 5S on the production line.
  • Complete Hazmat Certification and ensure hazmat shipping/receiving requirements are followed; maintain safety during material movement.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED required or skills assessment.
  • Experience: 6 months in automotive manufacturing material handling/shipping & receiving; 6 months battery material movement preferred; 1-3 years’ experience leading teams in a fast-paced environment preferred; 6 months of SAP/ERP experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with KPIs of a logistics department; strong verbal and written communication; ability to work independently; flexible schedule and overtime as needed.
  • Mathematical and reasoning abilities as described: basic math, data interpretation, and problem-solving; strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Computer skills: SAP, Leading to Lean, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Safety, Health and Physical Requirements
  • Complete DOT Hazmat training prior to moving hazmat materials; stand for long periods; lift up to 35 lbs repetitively and 50 lbs occasionally; work in a fast-paced, non-climate-controlled environment; wear PPE as required; support 5S/Housekeeping activities.
Additional Information
  • Travel up to 5%; availability to work a flex schedule including overtime.
