Job summary

Illinois Farm Bureau is seeking a PC Deployment Intern to join the IT project team. You will deploy, configure, and set up end-user equipment, including PCs, Macs, laptops, docking stations, monitors, and printers, while ensuring software is installed and configured correctly to minimize repeat support efforts.

  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to log data in admin systems.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting a wide variety of systems and networks.

About the role

The PC Deployment Intern works as part of the broader IT project team to support IFB’s annual PC deployment initiative. In this role, the intern is responsible for deploying, configuring, and setting up end-user equipment, including PCs, Macs, laptops, docking stations, monitors, and printers, while ensuring software is installed and configured correctly to minimize repeat support efforts. The intern also contributes to a high-performing support team by delivering exceptional customer service, assisting with service desk incidents, and helping meet established service expectations. Additionally, the position plays an important role in gathering and assessing end-user feedback throughout the deployment process to ensure a positive technology experience, maintain high satisfaction levels, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Application Timeline

We know waiting can be difficult, so we want to set expectations upfront. Our internship recruiting process takes place over several months. Applications open in mid-September and are reviewed as they are received. HR interviews are expected to begin in mid-October, followed by interviews with hiring leaders. Depending on the role and applicant volume, hiring decisions and offers may be made anytime from October through January. Do you have what we're looking for?
  • Pursuing a degree in computer systems technology or a related field.
  • Must be able to work full-time hours from late May 2027 to early August 2027.
  • The internship may be extended part-time through fall 2027 and spring 2028.
  • Graduation date of August 2027 or beyond.
  • Experience with hardware and software support, troubleshooting, system imaging, hardware break-fix support, (ie.. laptops, desktops, and printers), refresh, upgrade and deployment projects as well as excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience with conducting routine system administration tasks and logging data in system admin logs.
  • Experience with maintaining & troubleshooting a wide variety of systems and networks, including high availability systems.
  • Knowledge of debugging protocols and processes.
