Job description

At Relativity Space, we have two audacious goals: to build the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and to become America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Both contribute to our long-term vision of creating humanity's industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to expand the possibilities of the human experience. This journey begins right here on Earth – where we design, build, and fly rockets to deliver customer payloads to orbit. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable rocket, fulfills the growing demand for launch capacity, thanks to our iterative approach that accelerates design, testing, and development while minimizing costs. Our groundbreaking research and development in 3D printing push the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing.

Your journey with us is more than just a job – it's an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience alongside a community of passionate, creative individuals. Join us on this extraordinary journey as we work together to transform our vision into reality.

About the Team:

The Powder Bed Fusion manufacturing team develops, creates, and operates the most advanced additive manufacturing technologies in the world. This best-in-class team ensures that infrastructure, materials, tools, and equipment are in place for rapid iteration and printing. The Powder-Based manufacturing team was crucial to manufacturing Aeon-1 for its first launch and is now developing and demonstrating groundbreaking technologies, designs, and approaches for Aeon-R.

About the Role:
  1. Support the installation, commissioning, and operation of additive post-processing manufacturing equipment.
  2. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, checklists, and safety protocols for additive manufacturing, including post-processing equipment.
  3. Establish process flows to meet production rate and quality goals.
  4. Communicate roadblocks to team leaders and technicians promptly to enable appropriate reactions, containment, and recovery.
  5. Track machine utilization and drive reductions in planned and unplanned downtime.
  6. Perform manufacturing ROI and cost trade analyses to optimize machine capital and process improvements.
  7. Develop and implement tooling and statistical process control into production processes to improve reliability, reduce costs, and lead times.
About You:
  • BSc Degree in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with powder bed fusion metal printing.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, iterative design environment.
  • Experience working within ISO AS9100/ISO9000, medical device manufacturing, or similar environments.
Nice to Haves (but not required):
  • Six-Sigma Greenbelt, SPC, & DOE certifications.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices such as 5S or Six Sigma.
