The City of Santa Fe Springs is seeking a Payroll Technician to process payroll, leave, and benefits with attention to accuracy and timeliness. You will provide customer service and maintain records to satisfy statutory regulations pertaining to payroll processing.
Responsibilities include reviewing actions in the payroll system, gathering and coding time files, reconciling with vendor reports, and coordinating with Human Resources to ensure data accuracy.
Performs skilled technical work and calculations necessary to process payroll, leave, and benefits accurately and timely. Provide customer service and maintain records required to satisfy all statutory regulations in regards to payroll processing.
Required: High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by business school or college level courses or training in Payroll and HR related procedures.
Required: Two or more years of progressively responsible experience maintaining fiscal or related records preferably in payroll operations

Thorough knowledge of methods and procedures used in preparing payrolls and record keeping. Ability to interpret payroll and benefit policies and procedures. Ability to maintain detailed records and prepare reports. Ability to use good judgment in the application of detailed procedures to work situations. Ability to maintain and organize detailed reports. Skill in the operation of a variety of office equipment including a personal computer and other information processing equipment. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to adapt to change. Ability to work efficiently in Excel and Word.
