Job summary

Peoplease is seeking a Payroll Tax Manager to lead a high-visibility payroll tax function across federal, state, and local jurisdictions within our PEO operations. You will oversee day-to-day tax processing, filings, payments, tax notices, and regulatory compliance for a large, diverse client base.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, 5+ years in payroll tax, 2+ years of people management, and experience with MasterTax and PrismHR.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years in payroll tax, tax compliance, or related field.
• 2+ years of direct people-management experience.
• Experience in PEO industry preferred.
• Knowledge of payroll tax systems; MasterTax and PrismHR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily payroll tax operations across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
• Leverage analytics and technology to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Lead, coach, and develop team members with performance management and growth opportunities.
• Ensure timely preparation, review, filing, and payment of payroll tax returns and deposits.
• Improve processes to minimize tax exposure, errors, penalties, and risk.
• Investigate discrepancies among payroll, tax systems, and government records.
• Develop reporting tools to monitor performance and inform decisions.
• Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and other teams to resolve tax issues.
• Participate in audits, system implementations, and special projects.
