Qualifications

• 4+ years of federal, state, and local payroll and payroll tax experience.
• Hands-on experience with payroll tax reconciliations and discrepancy investigations.
• Experience with payroll tax software and systems; MasterTax is preferred.
• Experience researching payroll tax requirements using tax authority sources.
• Experience supporting payroll tax software enhancements, process improvements, or data conversions.
• Working knowledge of SQL and data validation.
• Ability to document processes, controls, and evidence in an audit-ready manner.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform and lead recurring payroll tax compliance validations and reconciliations; ensure reports and records are complete and accurate.
• Investigate discrepancies, determine root causes, coordinate resolution, and confirm corrections in systems and reports.
• Maintain auditable documentation of investigations, reconciliation evidence, findings, actions, and resolution.
• Ensure tax updates are validated and uploaded to systems in a timely manner.
• Serve as a compliance SME in troubleshooting payroll tax issues across federal, state, and local requirements.
• Use tax authority sources to support analysis and resolution; interact with tax agencies as needed.
• Provide guidance and coach teammates on payroll tax compliance and quality practices.
• Support SOX and SOC controls and related evidence requirements; assist with audits and control testing.
• Document processes and controls; identify improvements to strengthen accuracy and efficiency.
