About the Company

Pennant Services is one of the most dynamic and progressive companies in the rapidly expanding home health, hospice, and home care industries. Affiliates of Pennant Services now operate 128 home health, hospice, senior living, and assisted living agencies across 13 Western states, and we expect this growth to continue. Instead, they operate independently with support from the “Service Center,” a world-class service team that provides centralized clinical, legal, risk management, HR, training, accounting, IT, and otherresources necessary to allow on-site leaders and caregivers to focus squarely on day-to-day care andbusiness issues in their individual agencies.

About the Opportunity

Ensures payroll processes are coordinated with the administration of the company's payroll tax administration, analysis, reporting, and administrative procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews, monitors, and identifies employee tax elections and changes confirming proper setupof federal, state, and local tax withholding, school district, and/or county taxes
  • Reviews, identifies, and maintains corrections related to Federal annual exemption withholdingrequirements and special tax exceptions
  • Performs routine administrative tasks with third‐party settlement provider confirming accuratedeposit and filing of tax liabilities.
  • Research, document,t and monitor payroll tax issues and tax notices with third‐party settlement providers, ensuring and maintaining timely resolutions.
  • Provides bi-monthly updates regarding outstanding tax issues.
  • Escalate tax-related issues for management as necessary.
  • Analyze data and information using various internal systems to support tax filings.
  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners, including HR, Finance, Legal andCorporate Tax
  • Gather and report requested data to internal and external recipients, including auditors.
  • Reconcile quarter and annual filing,s including year‐end Tax Statements
  • Prepare all employer-required monthly/quarterly returns processed outside of a third‐partyprovider
  • Manage, update, and verify unemployment rates in Workday versus ADP and with third-party settlement providers.
  • Set up new jurisdictions with proper authorities and facilitate appropriate taxation in HRIS andthird‐party vendors.
  • Stays abreast of current legislation and regulatory rulings impacting payroll.
  • Accountable for year‐end processing and reconciliation of accurate and timely processing of W-2s and W-2Cs with demonstrated knowledge of relevant payroll tax rules and regulations.
  • Research, assist, and correct complex tax issues for employees.
  • Seeks out continuous process efficiencies or improvements, solicits team for input andparticipation
  • Understands the end-to-end tax functional processes and how they integrate with the overall end-to-end payroll processes.
  • File as necessary papers with ADP for upcoming Acquisitions (RAA, CAA, Federal Header, etc.)
  • Maintain agency logins, tax notices, registrations, TPA, contact state, and contact ADP (as needed).
  • File BLS (Bureau OF Labor Statistics) & MWR (Multiple Worksite Report), as needed
  • Maintain any late filings, SUI rate notices, and Zendesk notices.
  • Fill out POAs for ADP and Thomas and Company, as needed.
  • Sone knowledge of ADP Smart Compliance is a plus.
  • Maintain confidentiality with all sensitive data and information
  • Maintain professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years of experience working with large-volume payrolls and multiple legal entities is required.
  • Experience in working in a multi-state environment.
  • Knowledge of HCM and ADP highly preferred
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to complete projects timely and accurately.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Intermediate Local, State, and Federal Payroll tax knowledge
  • Excel Functions: Logical, Lookup & Reference, Information, Text, and Conditional Sums
  • Accounting principles.
  • Microsoft Office products
  • Workday preferred
  • ADP Tax Services is highly preferred
  • Versed in all aspects of multi‐state pay practices and labor laws.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience is preferred.
  • 5+ Years of Payroll Experience
  • 5+ years of Payroll Tax Experience
  • 3‐5+ Years of progressive cloud‐based payroll processing experience – Workday and ADPexperience preferred.
