This role works closely with the Senior Manager, Payroll & Compliance and other payroll team members to help ensure accurate , timely , and compliant payroll operations across corporate and shop employees.This position is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and enjoys supporting complex payroll and tax processes while developing deeper technical expertise . The Payroll & Tax Analyst plays a key role in day-to-day execution, documentation, and issue resolution, contributing to the overall accuracy and efficiency of payroll operations.Job Qualifications:3-5 years of payroll and/or payroll tax experience, including multi-state payroll exposureBachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)Fundamental knowledge of payroll tax regulations and reporting requirementsExperience supporting payroll processing cycles and responding to payroll-related inquiriesFamiliarity with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, or similar platformsStrong attention to detail with solid organizational and time management skillsIntermediate Excel skills and ability to work with payroll data and reportsAbility to follow established procedures while identifying opportunities for improvementClear written and verbal communication skillsLocation Requirement:This position is eligible for remote work in any state where Dutch Bros currently resides: AL, AZ, CA, CO, FL, ID, KS, KY, MO, NM, NV, OK, OR, TN, TX, UT, and WA.For candidates located in the Greater Phoenix area, this position is required to be in office four days per week (Monday–Thursday). Fridays are optional remote work days.Key Result Areas (KRAs):Payroll Tax & Gift Tax SupportSupport company gift tax reporting, including data gathering validation, tracking, and documentationAssist with payroll tax setup, filings, amendments, reconciliations, and notices under the guidance of senior payroll leadershipHelp prepare and review payroll tax reports to ensure accuracy and completenessMaintain organized records to support audits, agency inquiries, and internal reviewsPayroll Processing & AdministrationProvide ad hoc payroll processing support, including on-cycle & off-cycle payrolls, adjustments, reversals, and corrections in support of payroll tax operations as well as corporate and shop payroll teams as neededSupport accurate employee setup and maintenance in Workday, including earnings, deductions, and tax configurationsHelp ensure payroll data integrity by researching and resolving discrepanciesSpecial Projects & Continuous ImprovementSupport payroll special projects, including system updates, process enhancements, testing, and documentationAssist in the creation and maintenance of payroll SOPs, job aids, and process documentation in support of payroll tax, Workday payroll processing, and Workday reportingParticipate in system testing related to payroll, tax updates, and new earnings or deductionsHelp identify process gaps or inefficiencies and escalate recommendations to leadershipCross-Functional SupportRespond to internal payroll and tax-related inquiries from HR, Finance, and other stakeholdersPartner with external vendors (e.g., ADP) to help resolve routine payroll or tax issuesProvide reporting and data support for Finance reconciliations and compliance needsSkills:Strong attention to detail and accuracySolid understanding of payroll fundamentals and tax conceptsAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesAnalytical mindset with problem-solving capabilitiesComfortable working in collaborative, fast-paced environmentPhysical Requirements:In-Office Environment: Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptionsMust be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetingsOffice Conditions: Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levelsMobility : Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches.
