SHOE SHOW, INC., the country’s largest privately held footwear retailer in business 64 years with more than 1,000 stores in 47 states, is seeking an experienced Payroll Tax Analyst to join our team. The position is in the corporate headquarters located in Concord, NC. Local candidates are encouraged to apply!

What you should know:

The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for overseeing payroll tax filings, managing federal, state, and local payroll tax notices, and ensuring compliance with payroll tax regulations. This individual will support the payroll team to ensure proper tax deduction for employees nationwide.

What you will do:

  • Possess a foundational understanding of payroll tax filing processes for 4 FEIN’s and multi-state taxes.
  • Be responsible for managing and coordinating tax compliance, while collaborating with internal and external partners.
  • Reconcile payroll tax liabilities including reviewing all tax returns monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Oversee the Form W-2 process and handle W-2c corrections.
  • Track, coordinate, and resolve federal, state, and local payroll tax notices.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies in tax filings and payments.
  • Research and provide guidance on technical matters, audits, and special projects.
  • Assist Payroll Processing Team with employee federal and state tax withholding setup and issues.
  • Understand Unemployment rates and the importance of reviewing rates for accuracy. Work with Human Resources to ensure rate increases are due to claims.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant tax and/or accounting experience.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet internal and external deadlines.
  • Work effectively with agencies.
  • Strong organizational skills for prioritizing workload are required.

Software Applications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite products (Advanced Excel, Outlook and Word.)
  • Proficiency in selected Adobe products (Acrobat, Adobe Sign.)
  • Company computer systems
  • UltiPro/UKG
