Job summary

KnitWell Group, a family of iconic fashion brands, operates with a hybrid model in Hingham, MA. We are seeking a Payroll Staff Accountant (Tax) to manage payroll across brands and ensure accurate tax setup and reporting.

You will process payroll on time, respond to payroll and tax questions, audit variances, and reconcile Workday/OSV with Oracle/SAP GL. This role emphasizes collaboration with Payroll, HR, and IT to drive improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year experience in multi-state payroll tax.
  • Strong Excel/Access/Oracle/SAP skills; Workday experience preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate across Payroll, HR and IT stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll accurately and timely.
  • Review inquiries to ensure correct Federal, State, and Local tax setup.
  • Assist associates with payroll and tax questions and concerns.
  • Audit and resolve payroll and tax variances.
  • Perform data reconciliation between Workday/OSV and Oracle/SAP General Ledger.
  • Create and maintain audit reports for payroll data.
  • Support project development and process improvements related to payroll.

Payroll Staff Accountant (Tax)

About the role

The Payroll Staff Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of the payroll function. This includes:

  • Timely and accurate processing of the payroll
  • Reviewing inquiries to ensure set up of Federal, State, and Local taxes
  • Assisting associates with payroll and tax questions and concerns
  • Responsible for auditing, identifying, and resolving payroll and tax variances
  • Responsible for compliance research related to payroll and tax questions and concerns
  • Completion of data reconciliation between subsystem (Workday/OSV) and Oracle/SAP General Ledger

  • Troubleshoot errors as they arise during payroll process
  • Execution of ongoing Payroll processes
  • Facilitation of cross brand communication as it relates to Payroll functions and deliverables
  • Creation and maintenance of audit reports for data within Workday
  • Assist with project development and implementation on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with improvements related to process enhancements, innovation, and technological updates

What You’ll bring to the role

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year experience in multi-state payroll tax. General ledger experience is preferred.
  • Systems experience and strong aptitude with Excel, Access, Oracle, and SAP. Workday experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills – Ability to collaborate across departments with various Payroll stakeholders, HR, and IT resources.
  • Outstanding leadership and teamwork skills; ability to work well with others
  • Excellent Communication skills (verbal and written); ability to articulate potentially complex system and process components into user friendly terms.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
  • Attention to detail, ability to take initiative, and excellent prioritization abilities required

  • The target salary range for this role is: $60,000 – 65,000*

This position works in a hybrid model, with required days worked in the Talbots office location in Hingham, MA as defined by business needs. NOTE: we can also consider candidates who can work hybrid from our Duluth, MN or Ft Myers, FL brand offices also.
