CRH Americas Materials, Inc. is seeking a Payroll Specialist for our Shared Services in Alpharetta, GA. This role supports centralized payroll operations, handling complex hourly and salaried payrolls across multiple entities in a hybrid office setting.

You will ensure timely, accurate payroll, adhere to SLAs, and participate in system testing and process improvements. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of multi-state payroll experience, basic payroll knowledge, and strong data analysis skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or high school graduate with commensurate experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of multi-corporation, multi-state payroll processing experience.
  • Basic knowledge of payroll principles, wage laws, taxes, and attachments.
  • FPC a plus; PC literate with Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and mainframe payroll apps.

Responsibilities

  • Process complex hourly and salaried payrolls for multiple divisions in a centralized model.
  • Conduct regular and off-cycle payroll processing in a multi-entity environment.
  • Analyze payroll data, GL postings, and labor details for accuracy.
  • Support reconciliations, variance analysis, and post payroll audits.
  • Meet SLAs, calendars, and deadlines while handling high-volume work.
  • Maintain audit trails and compliant payroll records across entities.
  • Interpret wage attachments and respond to inquiries via case management.

Job Summary

This role is a Payroll Specialist within the CRH Americas Materials, Inc. Payroll Department. The position supports centralized payroll operations within a Shared Services environment, delivering accurate, timely and compliant payroll services to multiple operating companies and legal entities. This role executes payroll activities, adheres to established service level agreements (SLAs), participates in payroll system testing, implementations and continuous process improvement initiatives. It is a hybrid role and requires regular in-office presence at our Alpharetta, GA location.

A Shared Services Center (SSC) centralizes critical business processes, streamlining operations, reducing costs, and delivering consistent quality. By consolidating areas such as finance, procurement, payroll, and reporting, SSC eliminates duplication, frees time for strategic priorities, and fosters efficiency. SSC's primary functions include:



  • O2C (Order-to-Cash): Manages the customer journey from order to payment, driving smoother revenue processes.

  • R2R (Record-to-Report): Enables robust financial reporting and accounting.

  • P2P (Procure-to-Pay): Ensures timely vendor payments and strong supplier relationships. Manages the Travel and Expense program.

  • Center of Excellence: Drives innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Payroll (Hire-to-Retire): Ensures accurate, compliant employee payments.


Shared Services enables companies to focus on growth and strategic goals while maintaining operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities


  • Responsible for timely and accurate processing of complex hourly and salaried job-cost payrolls for assigned divisions

  • Execute regular and off cycle payroll processing for multiple operating companies/legal entities in a centralized payroll model

  • Analysis and posting of payroll job-cost, general ledger, and labor detail

  • Support payroll reconciliations, variance analysis, post payroll audits and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Meet defined SLAs, payroll calendars, and cut-off deadlines while supporting high- volume processing

  • Maintain accurate payroll records across entities and ensure proper documentation and audit trails

  • Complete variance analysis of key payroll figures and data to proactively identify and correct system/processing errors

  • Identify opportunities for process efficiencies, automation, and risk reduction within the shared service model

  • Interpretation and set up of wage attachments (garnishments, child support, tax levies)

  • Respond to inquiries through a case management or ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and escalation when appropriate

  • Serve as primary point of communication to division Payroll and Human Resource contacts

  • Maintain professional demeanor at all times while representing the company

  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required

  • Other duties as directed by management.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Education & Qualifications


  • Associate degree or high school graduate with commensurate experience

  • Minimum 2 years of multi-corporation, multi-state payroll processing or business environment experience required

  • Basic knowledge of payroll principles, wage and hour law, payroll taxes, and wage attachments

  • FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) a plus

  • PC literate: Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and mainframe payroll application experience

  • Must be 18 years in age or older

  • Pre-employment drug screen and background check required.

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook

  • Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required

  • Must be able to able to work under time constraints and ensure deadlines are met

  • Able to read and/or follow written and verbal instructions and implement the same.

  • Ability to adapt to changing and process driven environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail

  • Strong "customer service" focus

  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems

  • Able to communicate with others by telephone and in person.

  • Able to utilize a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.

  • May require sitting for extended periods of time.


Work Environment


  • Usually, normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

  • The position may require work outside of normal business hours
