Job description

Job Summary

As a Payroll Specialist Senior, you will ensure accurate, efficient, and timely employee payments each pay period. You will assist employees, managers, and timekeepers in understanding payroll processes and procedures to maintain consistency and clarity. Additionally, you will participate in daily payroll operations and support long-term process improvement projects.

Job Duties
  1. Support all aspects of payroll, including gross to net calculations, deductions, garnishments, general ledger posting, levies, support orders, multi-state, and withholding taxes.
  2. Prepare, analyze, identify, and resolve payroll exceptions through bi-weekly payroll audits to meet deadlines.
  3. Load payroll batches, review and record deductions, approve direct deposits, validate data entry across teams, and meet departmental deadlines. Handle manual inputs for special payments as needed.
  4. Address payroll inquiries with accuracy and urgency.
  5. Process biweekly and monthly payrolls, including vendor payments.
  6. Upload and manage time records, deductions, and related files using payroll software.
  7. Contribute to process improvements for increased efficiency, particularly in Workday payroll.
  8. Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve system issues and suggest enhancements to streamline payroll processes.
  9. Research and develop solutions for payroll issues in a complex technical environment.
  10. Review current payroll and related benefits and tax procedures for compliance and efficiency.
  11. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements, updating systems accordingly.
  12. Participate in defining system requirements and recommend features to management for cost-effective solutions.
  13. Manage all payroll transactions, including off-cycle payments, ensuring accuracy across multiple payrolls.
  14. Review payroll inputs from various sources to maintain accuracy.
  15. Analyze user requests for services, automate processes, and generate reports.
  16. Update payroll policies, procedures, and manuals regularly.
  17. Maintain communication with customers regarding payroll issues and resolutions.
  18. Complete manual payroll tasks as required by the department.

Position Details

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required; Associate's Degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 4 years in Finance required.
