Job summary

Velocity Vehicle Group is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist I to support accurate, timely payroll processing across multiple states, including California. You will review timesheets, process inputs, and ensure accuracy while maintaining confidentiality.

Work with HR to ensure payroll compliance, handle changes (new hires, terminations, deductions), and support audits and reporting in a fast-paced, team-focused environment with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of payroll processing experience.
• Experience with California and multi-state payroll.
• Knowledge of payroll compliance, taxes, deductions, and wage & hour regulations.
• Proficiency with payroll systems such as Dayforce, UKG Pro, Workday, or similar HRIS.
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly multi-state payroll, including California payroll.
• Review timesheets, payroll inputs, and supporting docs for accuracy.
• Perform payroll audits, reconciliations, and resolve discrepancies.
• Process changes including new hires, terminations, compensation, and deductions.
• Maintain payroll records, employee data, taxes, garnishments, and direct deposits.
• Serve as primary contact for employee payroll inquiries and issue resolution.
• Partner with HR to ensure accurate employee information and payroll compliance.
• Support payroll reporting, audits, and process improvements.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee and compensation data.

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of payroll processing experience
• Experience with California and multi-state payroll
• Knowledge of payroll compliance, taxes, deductions, and wage & hour regulations
• Proficiency with payroll systems such as Dayforce, UKG Pro, Workday, or similar HRIS platforms
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and customer service skills
• Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
