Job summary

The City of Kenner seeks a Payroll Clerk to administer all payroll functions for 35 hours per week under general supervision. You will input time, process pay, and prepare EFTs, tax withholdings, and retirement contributions, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation.

Responsibilities include deductions, leave tracking, tax forms, journal entries, and audits; 2–3 years payroll experience and a valid Louisiana license are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalency plus 2–3 years of payroll processing experience.
• Must possess a current, valid Louisiana driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Inputs employee time and pay adjustments in financial software and prints payroll checks/advices.
• Prepares and submits payroll tax forms and retirement system reports.
• Maintains vacation and sick leave records and related spreadsheets.
• Reconciles payroll, prepares journal entries, and supports audits.
• Assists with payroll distributions, vendor payments, and benefit deductions.
• Interacts with Finance and Human Resources staff and the public as needed.
