Job summary

RRM Design Group is seeking a full-time Payroll Specialist to join the Accounting team in California. You will manage payroll for a multi-state workforce, including prevailing wage payroll, and work closely with the Controller to ensure accurate, compliant payroll operations.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of experience, an Associate Degree in Accounting, and strong MS Office skills, with attention to detail and effective communication. This role supports an inclusive, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Accurately processing payroll for a multi-state company for exempt and non-exempt employees.
• Processing prevailing wage payroll and related compliance paperwork.
• Reviewing timecards for accuracy and required approvals.
• Staying up to date on payroll laws, including prevailing wage.
• Keeping up to date on policies concerning payroll and timekeeping.
• Reconciling payroll records with accounting and third-party systems.
• Monthly/quarterly/annual payroll reporting.
• Ensuring payroll reporting complies with state and federal laws.

YOUR ROLE LOOKS LIKE:

• Accurately processing payroll for multi-state company for exempt and non-exempt employees.
• Processing prevailing wage payroll and related compliance paperwork.
• Reviewing timecards for accuracy and required approvals.
• Staying up to date on all payroll laws, including prevailing wage.
• Keeping up to date on all RRM policies that concern payroll and timekeeping.
• Reconciling all payroll records with accounting system and corresponding third party systems.
• Monthly/quarterly/annual reporting regarding employees and payroll.
• Responsible for payroll reporting in compliance with state and federal laws.

Requirements

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE:

• Minimum four (4) years of experience.
• Associates Degree in Accounting.
• Possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to quickly analyze problems and respond with effective solutions.

ABOVE & BEYOND:

• Knowledge of Paylocity Software.
• Knowledge of prevailing wage.
• Experience using Unanet.

COMPENSATION:

The hiring range for this role is targeted at $29.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on skills and experience.
