Job Overview

Position: Payroll Specialist in the Payroll Department. Responsible for accurately processing pay for employees in compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations. Reports to the Payroll Supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Process biweekly or semimonthly payroll for all employees in accordance with company policies and federal/state regulations.
  • Collect and verify timekeeping information from employees.
  • Enter payroll data accurately and on time.
  • Assist in resolving payroll discrepancies and answer employee payroll‑related inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with internal policies and legal regulations.
  • Support with garnishments, tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and other payroll‑related changes.
  • Generate standard payroll reports as needed.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Benefits, and Finance teams to ensure data integrity and consistency.
  • Assist with year‑end processing, including W‑2s and other required forms.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Proficient computer skills, especially with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to perform detailed work accurately, confidentially, and promptly.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi‑state or complex payroll environment.
  • Familiarity with Workday payroll software.
  • Experience in a standard office environment using telephones, computers, and other equipment.
  • Availability for extended hours during payroll deadlines or year‑end processes.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Eligibility

Applicants must have a clear driving record, a 10‑year criminal history check, a drug screen as required, proof of high school or GED completion, and be at least 18 years old.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting rate: $40,000.00–$45,000.00 Annual Salary (based on locale and experience). Benefits include paid training, holiday pay, 401(k), vacation, family travel on the American Airlines network, and medical and dental coverage.
