Job summary

Globalchannelmanagement is seeking a Payroll Manager with hands-on Workday Payroll expertise to own end-to-end multi-state payroll processing for 1,500+ employees. You will lead payroll activities, ensure SOX compliance, and partner with Accounting and HRIS to optimize the payroll lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in payroll, strong payroll accounting skills, experience with equity transactions, and a track record of improving processes with AI tools.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of payroll experience, with deep Workday Payroll expertise and end-to-end ownership.
• Experience across multi-state payroll including 1,500+ employees.
• Strong payroll accounting: journal entries, GL reconciliations, month/year-end close, SOX controls.
• Experience processing equity transactions and payroll tax withholding.
• Knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll tax compliance; W-2/W-2c processing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review payroll journal entries, reconciliations, and GL postings.
• Collaborate with Accounting to record payroll expenses, accruals, liabilities.
• Process end-to-end multi-state payrolls using Workday Payroll for 1,500+ staff.
• Process equity transactions and tax withholding via Workday Payroll.
• Partner with HRIS/IT to manage Workday updates, testing, enhancements.
• Ensure accurate payroll taxes, filings, and SOX controls.

Payroll Manager requires:

• Hands‑on Workday Payroll expertise with demonstrated ownership of end-to-end multi‑state payroll processing (not simply managing or approving payroll).
• 8+ years of payroll experience (manager will consider 4–6 years if the candidate demonstrates exceptional Workday Payroll expertise and full‑cycle ownership).
• Strong payroll accounting experience, including payroll journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, month‑end/year‑end close, and SOX controls.
• Experience processing equity transactions and payroll tax withholding through Workday Payroll.
• Deep knowledge of federal and multi‑state payroll tax compliance, W‑2/W‑2c processing, and payroll‑related SOX controls.
• Basic Australia payroll knowledge, including superannuation requirements and preparing payroll data for a third‑party provider.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, lookups, etc.).
• Experience managing or leading a payroll team.
• Experience leveraging AI tools (Claude, Gemini, or similar) to improve payroll process.
• U.S. multi‑state payroll and Australia payroll support for 1,500+ employees.

DUTIES:

• Prepare and review payroll journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger postings.
• Collaborate with the Accounting team to ensure accurate recording of payroll expenses, accruals, and liabilities.
• Prepare and process end‑to‑end multi‑state payrolls for 1,500+ employees using Workday Payroll.
• Process and submit employee equity transactions and related tax withholding through Workday Payroll.
• Partner with HRIS and IT teams to manage Workday system updates, testing, and enhancements.
• Ensure accurate calculation, withholding, remittance, and reporting of federal, state, and local payroll taxes.
• Manage W‑2, W‑2c, and other year‑end tax filings and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with payroll SOX controls and maintain current knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations.
