A leading staffing and recruiting company in Los Angeles is seeking a qualified Payroll Manager to oversee payroll processes for 1,500 employees. This role, which requires strong skills in Workday and Excel, aims to ensure accurate and timely payroll execution while collaborating closely with the Payroll Associate and management team. The position is primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings required.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and manage the payroll process for 1,500 employees. While this role has no direct reports, the individual will work closely with the Payroll Associate, Managers, and Director to ensure the accurate and timely execution of semi-monthly payroll.

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Pay: $40-$50/Hourly

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and manage the payroll process for 1,500 employees. While this role has no direct reports, the individual will work closely with the Payroll Associate, Managers, and Director to ensure the accurate and timely execution of semi-monthly payroll.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong Workday and Excel skills who enjoys working independently but collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, process, and review all payroll functions for 1,500 employees on a semi-monthly basis.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to address payroll-related questions and discrepancies.
  • Utilize Workday to manage payroll processing and reporting.
  • Perform audits and reconciliations of payroll data to ensure integrity and compliance.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate payroll records.
  • Participate in monthly team meetings in Downtown Los Angeles, otherwise position is fully remote.
  • Provide support during audits and assist in reporting and analysis as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Payroll, Accounting, or HR.
  • 3+ years of end-to-end payroll experience, preferably with large-scale (1000+ employees).
  • Recent hands-on experience with Workday payroll system.
  • Proficient in Excel – including Pivot Tables, Formulas, and VLOOKUPs.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to attend monthly in-person meetings in Downtown LA.

Pre-Hiring Requirements

  • Confirmation of recent Workday payroll experience
  • Availability for a 30-minute video screen and completion of a 2-hour Excel/payroll assessment
