Job summary

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking an Assistant Director of the Payroll Examination to oversee the Payroll Examination Unit and ensure accurate payroll processing for agency employees. You will supervise staff analyzing payroll reports, addressing discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with city and union payroll regulations.

Responsibilities include reviewing PMS/Pi reports, approving retroactive adjustments, and coordinating with HR and other teams to resolve

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• New York State CPA license or eligibility.
• Experience supervising payroll staff and guiding process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Payroll Examination Unit to ensure timely payroll processing.
• Review payroll reports generated by PMS and Pi.
• Approve retroactive adjustments and special payroll transactions.
• Ensure compliance with OPA, OLR, and bargaining agreements.
• Prepare payroll certifications and bi-weekly summaries.
• Coordinate with HR, Timekeeping, and other stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Develop unit procedures and provide staff training.
