Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey (Goodwill NYNJ) seeks a Director of Payroll to lead a strategic and hands‑on payroll organization. You will oversee payroll operations across Goodwill NYNJ and affiliated entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and service excellence while driving process improvements and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Minimum 8–10 years of progressive payroll leadership experience in a multi-site environment.
• Experience leading and developing payroll teams in nonprofit or multi-entity settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead payroll department, mentoring staff and setting performance standards.
• Direct payroll across multiple entities and ensure timely, accurate processing.
• Align payroll operations with policies, controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT, and operations to support organizational goals.
• Evaluate and develop payroll services for external clients and potential revenue opportunities.
