Job summary

Walden Security in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a payroll staff accountant to analyze financial information and prepare reports by managing payroll processing and related accounting tasks.

You will ensure GAAP compliance, handle deductions and benefits, prepare weekly, monthly, and year-end payroll reports, issue paychecks and W-2s, and support billing and general office duties as needed. Strong attention to detail and experience with payroll software are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent; or minimum one year related experience and/or training.
• Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Monitors compliance with GAAP and company procedures.
• Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
• Compiles payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, 401(k) deductions, hours worked, taxes, and employee IDs from time sheets.
• Prepares computer input forms, enters data, or computes wages and deductions.
• Responds to employee questions regarding pay.
• Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
• Issues paychecks and mails W-2s.
• Performs other office duties to ensure smooth financial processes.
