Job summary

Mercury is seeking a Payroll Operations Specialist to support the administrative and compliance foundation enabling customers to operate across state jurisdictions. You will manage payroll tax registrations, agency accounts, foreign qualifications, tax correspondence, unemployment claims, and other compliance tasks.

Collaborate with Payroll Operations, Customer Support, Implementation, Benefits and external partners to deliver exceptional service.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of payroll operations experience.
• Experience with payroll tax registrations and state filings.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Register employers with state/local payroll tax agencies and maintain accounts.
• Research state compliance requirements and interface with government agencies.
• Process foreign qualifications filings, renewals, and vendor coordination.
• Review tax notices and unemployment claims, and handle related requests.
• Support client services and automation initiatives to improve workflows.
• Document and update internal systems for compliance.
