Job summary

Mason Public Schools seeks a Payroll & Benefits Accountant for its Central Office. The role supports accounting, payroll processing, reporting, and audits, with cross-training on other business office duties.

Deadline Sept 30, 2026. Annual salary $56,619–$75,594 based on experience. In-person, 12-month full-time with comprehensive benefits.

Requires a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance or related field; MSBO certifications preferred; strong Excel/Word and payroll systems experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources or equivalent.
• Michigan School Business Officials certifications preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Strong knowledge of K-12 accounting principles and payroll administration.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed review of payrolls, balancing accounts and correcting discrepancies.
• Process electronic payroll and tax payments and maintain electronic records.
• Prepare mandated reports (W-2, 941, Medicaid, etc.) and assist with audits.
• Cross-train on Business Office procedures and support staff payroll questions.
• Assist in annual financial statement audit with year-end accruals.
