Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a payroll associate to perform a variety of statistical and clerical tasks for payroll data input. You will review timekeeping, process deductions, and maintain HRIS records while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Role includes handling payroll calculations, responding to employee inquiries, and supporting audit reports. Collaboration in a team environment is essential for meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 4 years of related education or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Payroll processing knowledge including regulatory requirements; internal policy; accounting practices.

Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Performs a variety of statistical tasks and clerical duties required to prepare payroll data for computer input. Reviews timekeeping records. Processes exception items requiring special handling. Responds to inquiries from employees regarding deductions, calculations, and changes in compensation. Prepares, compiles and maintains various statistical and payroll records. May manually calculate wages and post wage data for temporary work, bonuses, vacations, terminations, and special payroll requirements. May maintain employee records on company's human resources information system (HRIS). May perform analyses and reviews of data, develop reports for supervision review.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma & 4 years of related education, i.e.: business or accounting and/or relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft office suite (excel, word, and PowerPoint)
  • Payroll processing experience including relevant regulatory requirements; internal policy and procedure; accounting practices; system software requirements
  • Knowledge of FLSA, federal and state laws, etc.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; Must posses a strong characteristic for attention to detail and accuracy
  • Problem-solving; organizing and prioritizing work demands in order to meet critical deadlines
  • Perform basic payroll calculations
  • Operating a personal computer including standard software and some specialized accounting software
  • 1 year of experience involving extensive payroll duties
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment
  • Certified Payroll Professional Certification [2 year completion requirement]
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project team member
  • SAP experience
  • Prior experience working in a shared service or center of excellence environment

Primary Level Salary Range: $58,300.00 - $97,100.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
