The 19th Judicial District Court in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is seeking an at-will HR professional to assist with classification and compensation, payroll and benefits, and employee training and development under the Judicial Administrator and Director of Human Resources.

Responsibilities include assisting both employees and retirees with benefits, onboarding new staff, and maintaining confidential court information while supporting a 35-hour work week from 8:30 a.m.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a Human Resources role.
  • Experience using UKG Kronos is highly desired.

  • Manage employee benefits programs including health and supplemental insurance.

Job description

The Nineteenth Judicial District Court is one of Louisiana’s 43 judicial districts and has original

jurisdiction over all civil and criminal matters in East Baton Rouge Parish. There are fifteen elected

judges (Division A through Division O) in the 19th JDC.

About the role

Under the general direction of the Judicial Administrator and the Director of Human Resources, this

at-will position assists with services and employee relations, including classification and

compensation, payroll and benefits, and employee training and development. Work also involves

assisting both employees and retirees with benefits and performing other administrative duties.

Performance is reviewed through conferences and results obtained. Performs other work as

requested.

Location & commitments
  • Office of the Judicial Administrator, 19th Judicial District Court in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
  • Full-time with a 35-hour work week
  • Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Responsibilities
  • To promote and adhere to the workplace values of accountability, commitment, and teamwork to help enrich lives beyond expectation.
  • Process regular payroll and court reporter payroll.
  • Work with Retirees to set up payment for insurance premiums.
  • Develop an understanding of each position within the court.
  • Responsible for posting all job opportunities (both in-house and through the various lawschools, BRBA, and other websites).
  • Assist with onboarding of all new employees, including conducting an orientation and a tour of the courthouse.
  • Works with administration to develop and retain highly competent, service-oriented court staff through training and day-to-day management practices that support the Court’s objectives and service expectations.
  • Manage employee benefits programs including supplemental insurance policies, health insurance (including Open Enrollment), and deferred compensation.
  • Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted Court information.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Candidate requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a Human Resources role
  • Experience using UKG Kronos is highly desired
