F&W Forestry Services in Albany, GA is seeking an experienced Payroll & Accounts Receivable Accountant to own the payroll cycle for a multi-state workforce and manage AR functions. This hands-on role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to partner with HR and finance.

You’ll handle end-to-end payroll processing, tax filings, and year-end reporting, monitor AR aging, and support reconciliations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience in an accounting or finance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of gross-to-net pay, deductions, employee classification, imputed income, and payroll accruals.
  • Working knowledge of payroll tax requirements and wage-and-hour compliance.
  • Experience with accounts receivable.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/payroll systems.
  • Experience supporting multi-state payroll is preferred.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Dynamics SL is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for hourly, salaried, and multi-state employees.
  • Review gross-to-net calculations, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, benefits, retirement contributions, and garnishments.
  • Support payroll tax deposits and filings, including Forms 941, 940, W-2, W-4, and applicable state requirements.
  • Reconcile payroll liability, tax, and benefits accounts and resolve discrepancies between payroll records and the general ledger.
  • Help maintain compliance with FLSA and federal and state wage-and-hour requirements.
  • Process payroll changes associated with new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and other employee events.
  • Manage year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation, reconciliation, annual filings, and audit support.
  • Respond to employee payroll, deduction, and withholding questions with professionalism and discretion.
  • Partner with HR on benefits, PTO accruals, and other payroll-related matters.
  • Generate customer invoices, apply incoming payments, monitor accounts receivable aging, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Reconcile the accounts receivable subledger to the general ledger each month.

Payroll & Accounts Receivable Accountant

F&W Forestry Services is looking for an experienced Payroll & Accounts Receivable Accountant to join our accounting team at our headquarters in Albany, Georgia.

This is an important hands-on role for an accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of critical processes and understands that accurate payroll is about much more than processing a pay run. You’ll manage the full payroll cycle for a multi-state workforce, help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll requirements, reconcile payroll-related accounts, support year-end reporting, and serve as a knowledgeable resource for employees with payroll questions. You’ll also have responsibility for key accounts receivable functions, including customer invoicing, payment application, and monthly reconciliations.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience in an accounting or finance environment
  • Strong knowledge of payroll fundamentals, including gross-to-net pay, deductions, employee classification, imputed income, and payroll accruals
  • Working knowledge of payroll tax requirements and wage-and-hour compliance
  • Previous accounts receivable experience
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/payroll systems
  • Experience supporting multi-state payroll is preferred
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Dynamics SL is a plus
