Job summary

Whop in Brooklyn is seeking a Payments Risk Specialist to monitor, research, and improve transaction and merchant risk frameworks while enabling growth. You will analyze fraud patterns, monitor merchant behavior, and partner with Compliance on KYC/KYB and onboarding risk controls.

You will fine tune rules to balance approval rates with loss mitigation and design dashboards that surface emerging risk trends.

Qualifications

2–5 years in payments risk, fraud operations, or transaction monitoring with a strong analytical mindset.
Ability to interpret behavioral and financial signals and make principled risk decisions.
Experience designing dashboards and alerts to surface risk trends.

Responsibilities

Monitor transaction activity and merchant behavior across card and alternative rails.
Analyze fraud patterns, chargeback trends, and abuse vectors to uncover bad actors.
Partner with Compliance on KYC, KYB, and onboarding risk controls.
Fine tune rules and thresholds to balance approval rates with loss mitigation.
Design dashboards and alerts that surface emerging risk trends.
Work cross-functionally to prevent systemic exposure while preserving growth velocity.
Within 30–90 days, master Whop’s payment risk flows and take ownership of daily operations.
