Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an Engineering Lead - Payments (d/f/m) to set the technical direction for backend APIs and our checkout experiences. You will own high-performance, scalable payment systems and guide a team through complex implementation challenges.

Bring 10+ years of experience, with at least 3 years in a lead role, plus hands-on expertise in payments, e-commerce, and modern backend stacks (Go/TypeScript, AWS/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes).

Qualifications

• Experience in payments, e-commerce, billing, or checkout flows.
• Ability to lead and mentor engineering teams and drive code reviews.
• Strong backend/API design knowledge and full-stack familiarity.
• Familiarity with cloud-native environments and data security considerations.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain technical direction for backend APIs, services, and checkout experiences with focus on performance, scalability and security.
• Drive product-minded execution for payments and money flows as the platform scales.
• Mentor engineers, lead reviews, and conduct performance evaluations to uphold standards.
• Hands-on development of our managed payments platform, focusing on payments, billing, and transaction flows.
• Collaborate across teams (engineering, product, finance, support) to resolve payment issues and ship features.
• Oversee integration with Stripe, Adyen, Braintree and ensure data security and compliance.
