Job summary

Med-Metrix is seeking a Payment Variance Analyst to identify opportunities for reimbursement by analyzing contractual payment discrepancies and payer underpayments. You will report root causes to the manager and support the team in resolving issues.

The role focuses on collecting reimbursements, analyzing data, and ensuring HIPAA compliance while coordinating with internal teams to improve accuracy and outcomes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2 years’ experience in Commercial insurance collections and underpayments.
• Knowledge of managed care reimbursement methodologies.
• Experience with hospital/facility billing and data analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform payment variance analyses to identify trends in underpaid claims.
• Prepare data for payer underpayments for internal validation.
• Collaborate with Analytics/Pricing teams to resolve contract variances.
• Monthly analysis of client heat maps for accuracy.
• Escalate with payers for collection and resolution of underpayments.
• Provide guidance to payment variance specialists on projects.
• Initiate appeals when necessary and track recurring issues.
