Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Payment Posting Representative to ensure timely and accurate posting of payments, denials and adjustments. You will handle EOBs from insurers, patient checks and online payments while resolving posting issues and supporting daily reconciliation.

Responsibilities

  • Post payments daily in the Practice Management System.
  • Audit and prepare payment reports.
  • Pull EOBs from insurance websites and other entities.
  • Post denials and rejections to patient accounts.
  • Post a high volume of electronic payments with accuracy.
  • Resolve edits or errors related to electronic payments.
  • Transfer copay/coinsurance/deductible balances to patient responsibility.
  • Post contractual adjustments to patient accounts.
  • Post insurance payments using EOBs and enter adjustments.
  • Post EFTs, IDTs, Virtual Cards and other online payments.
  • May perform payment audits and assist reconciliation.
  • Collaborate across teams to locate/verify payments.
  • Balance monthly transactions and report to management.

Accurate and detailed posting of EOB payment from the insurance companies and patient checks and credit card payments to the patient account. Serve as the primary subject matter expert in regard to payment posting and problem solving and provide the best outcomes for our organization and our patients.


Responsibilities


  • Daily posting of payments in the Practice Management System.

  • Conducts audits and prepares payment reports.

  • Pulls EOB's and other correspondence from various Insurance Websites and other entities.

  • Posts denials and rejections to patient accounts.

  • The ability to post a high volume of electronic payments with attention to detail.

  • The ability to resolve edits or errors related to electronic payments

  • Transfers copay/coinsurance and deductible balances to patient responsibility.

  • Posts contractual adjustments to patient accounts.

  • Posts insurance payments using the Explanation of Benefits (EOBS) against appropriate line item service and enter adjustments as indicated.

  • Posts EFT's (Electronic Funds Transfer), IDT's (Inter-Departmental Transfers), Virtual Credit Cards and any other online payments.

  • May perform Payment Audits as directed by management.

  • Helps conduct audits and reconciliation with other staff members and management.

  • Ensures posted payments are reconciled on a daily basis and sent to Cash Management.

  • Print IDT's and reconcile monthly.

  • Collaborates across teams to help assist with locating payments and/or verifying payments

  • Balances monthly transactions and provide summaries to upper management.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  • Ten Key Proficiency

  • Type minimum of 35 wpm

  • Ability to read and understand EOBs

  • Working knowledge of EOBs, EFTs and Virtual Credit Cards

  • Excel skills which may include pivot tables, recording data and formula functions

  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Must be detailed oriented, have strong accounting skills and the ability to multi-task

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills are required

  • Must have intermediate Experience with M/S office product including Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Computer skills to operate the Practice Management System

  • Knowledge of Medical Billing, Insurance Carriers and Federal Programs

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask

  • Ability to work overtime if needed


Education

HS Diploma or GED

Benefits Overview

UT Health San Antonio offers an excellent benefits package for its employees. Employees who work at least 20 hours a week, with an appointment of at least 4.5 months, are eligible for benefits.


Medical

UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deduction. Employees and their dependents can also receive discounted copays and coinsurance when using UT Health Physicians, a network of 800 premier physicians including more than 100 specialists. Employees receive $50,000 of group term life insurance and $50,000 of basic accidental death and dismemberment insurance for free, with options to purchase additional employee and dependent coverage for both at group rates.


Dental

Three dental insurance plan options are available for employees and their families through Delta Dental Insurance Company, two PPOs and one dental HMO plan. Both PPO plans allow employees to choose any licensed dentist.


Vision

Fully insured Vision Care benefits are offered by Superior Vision Services. Two vision plan options that offer either standard or enhanced vision benefits.


Disability

Employees can enroll in the Disability Insurance which provides income if a non-work related illness or injury prevents you from working.


FSAs

Retirement

Time Off

A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:



  • Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.

  • Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.

  • Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.

  • Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.
