Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a clinically oriented assistant to support outpatient care at the UTSA student health clinic. Under direct supervision, you will take vital signs, administer injections, collect specimens, prepare examination rooms, and assist with medication administration and POCT.

Some travel to other campuses may be required. Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, effective communication, analytical thinking and basic EPIC software experience; healthcare

Responsibilities

• Maintains patient flow in and out of exam room, prepares patients for examination to ensure timely care.
• Administers medications as ordered.
• Collects and processes laboratory specimens as ordered.
• Cleans and prepares examination rooms prior to patient appointments.
• Maintains medical inventory and places orders for materials as needed.
• Performs Point of Care Testing (POCT) and reports findings to RN or Provider.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

May perform some administrative duties and support the documentation of patient records as dictated by the physician or provider. Primary location is the UTSA student health clinic. Some duties may require travel to other campuses as needed.

• Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
• Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
