Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer II (Payloads) to own manufacturing and integration of payload systems, including pharmaceutical processing hardware and microgravity modules.

You will translate design requirements into production-ready processes and work hands-on with technicians to ensure airborne-ready assemblies meet the highest standards of quality and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline; 1–3+ years experience preferred.
• 1+ years experience manufacturing or integrating complex electromechanical assemblies or payload systems.
• Experience reading engineering drawings, ICDs, and assembly models; GD&T familiarity.
• Experience developing and executing assembly procedures and acceptance test plans.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to interface with customers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end manufacturing and assembly processes for payload systems.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, travelers, process specs, and test procedures.
• Serve as primary manufacturing interface for payload customers; translate requirements into production processes.
• Implement contamination control and cleanliness protocols for sensitive hardware.
• Collaborate with design engineers for DFM/DFA feedback and testability.
• Define and execute payload acceptance testing and build records; manage MRB if needed.
• Coordinate payload integration milestones with vehicle team and gates.
