Job summary

Varda Space Industries seeks a Principal Manufacturing Engineer- Payloads to own production-ready processes for mission-critical payload systems, including pharmaceutical processing hardware and experiment modules. You will translate payload requirements into assembly instructions, develop rigorous work instructions, and work hands-on with technicians to ensure quality and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets engineering drawings, ICDs and assembly models.
• Familiar with GD&T and interface requirement management.
• Develops and executes assembly procedures and acceptance test plans.
• Strong communication skills for interfacing with customers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end manufacturing and assembly processes for payload systems.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, travelers, process specs, and test procedures.
• Interface with payload customers translating requirements into production processes.
• Implement contamination control and cleanliness protocols for sensitive hardware.
• Provide DFM/DFA feedback on assembly accessibility and thermal interfaces.
• Lead root cause analysis and coordinate dispositions with design engineering.
• Coordinate payload integration milestones with vehicle integration team.
