Job summary

Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) is seeking candidates for GS-04 to GS-06 payroll-related positions. You will process financial transactions, review documents for accuracy, and apply standardized procedures within a federal payroll environment.

Telework is limited and on-site duties are required. The role requires demonstrated generalized and specialized experience at the GS level and the ability to operate in automated payroll systems with strict regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• One year of generalized experience equivalent in level of difficulty to the next lower grade (GS-03) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
• Generalized experience is defined as: responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty to the next lower grade (GS-04) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
• GS-05: Specialized Experience is defined as: performing financial duties that support the processing of financial/accounting transactions using standardized procedures to include reviewing documents for accuracy or inputting financial/accounting information into an automated system or correcting invalid/incorrect transactions.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty to the next lower grade (GS-05) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
• GS-06: Specialized experience is defined as: reviewing and processing a wide variety of complex or non-recurring payroll transactions or resolving problems within automated pay accounts, experience must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of a wide-range of payroll actions, regulations, policies and procedures.
