Job summary

Allan Myers is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer to support site and paving heavy civil construction projects in Maryland. The role emphasizes planning, scheduling, execution, and control of work, with a strong focus on safe, efficient paving operations and adherence to company policies.

You will assist in developing work plans, interpreting plans, maintaining logs, and coordinating material deliveries while gaining hands-on experience on active job sites.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, related major, or equivalent.
• 0-2 years of engineering or construction experience.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and reinforces company culture and leadership practices with team members.
• Supports a crew and project team by developing work plans and schedules for paving operations.
• Has basic knowledge and understanding of milling and paving operations.
• Performs laborer tasks as part of a crew (e.g., pipe, excavation, site cleanup, painting, maintenance).
• Interprets contract plans and specifications.
• Ensures work meets specified requirements and production standards.
• Documents projects through diaries, photos, video, inspections, RFIs, reports, and CMiC logs.
• Develops, reviews, and processes submissions and tracks status to final approval.
• May assist in negotiation, pricing, and purchasing of parts, materials, and labor.
• Assists in coordinating material deliveries and trucking needs to maximize production and quality; verifies cost code charging and invoicing.
• Tracks quantities of work performed by the company and subcontractors for billing input.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Supports safety initiatives and Home Safe Tonight program.

Responsibilities

This full-time entry level engineering position supports a crew(s) or project team(s) in the planning, scheduling, execution, and controlling of site and paving-specific heavy civil construction projects. Has particular focus on maintaining and understanding the safe and efficient paving operations for assigned job site(s) . Actions all while working in accordance with company policies, procedures, and programs.

• Communicates, models and continuously reinforces company culture and leadership practices with other team members, including Values, Safety, Ethics Policy, and the Collaborative Way.
• Supports a crew (s), project team(s) by developing work plans and work schedules for paving operations and assists to maximize potential crew productivity.
• Has basic knowledge and understanding of milling and paving operations.
• Performs laborer tasks as part of a crew which may include: pipe, excavation, site cleanup, painting and maintenance, and other crew work.
• Interprets contract plans and specifications.
• Ensures that work performed meets the specified requirements and production.
• Documents projects through diary entries, photographs, video, inspections, requests for information, reports, and in maintaining various CMiC logs and journals.
• Develops, reviews, and processes necessary submissions and tracks their status through to final approval.
• May assist in negotiation, pricing, and purchasing of parts, materials, and labor.
• Assists in managing and coordinating material deliveries and trucking needs to ensure maximum production and quality on the job. Verifies correc t cost code charging and invoicing.
• Tracks quantities of worked performed by the company and by subcontractor(s). Provides input into quantities of work to be billed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Supports the compliance and incorporation of safety initiatives, values, and the Home Safe Tonight program.
• May participate on Safe Production Teams.
• May assist with Daily Written Work Plans and Work Hazard assessments as applicable.
