Job summary

SEVEN LAKES CONTRACTING & ASPHALT S is seeking an experienced estimator/supervisor for our busy asphalt paving company. The role involves reviewing project plans, measuring quantities, and pricing labor, equipment, and materials for asphalt and concrete construction to balance competitive pricing with profitability.

Key duties include quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, bid preparation, vendor coordination, and collaboration with project managers, field superintendents, and clients on site

Qualifications

• Experience 2 to 5 years of heavy civil or paving construction estimating experience.
• Strong understanding of asphalt mix designs, concrete cure times, grading, and paving operations.
• Familiarity with takeoff and bidding tools like Bluebeam, HeavyBid, AgTek, or Planswift.
• Ability to interpret civil engineering drawings, grading sheets, and project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Quantity Takeoffs: Measure square footage, depth, and volume for asphalt paving, concrete flatwork, base materials, and sub-grades from blueprints.
• Cost Analysis: Calculate expenses for raw materials, haul-off, equipment rentals, crew labor, and fuel.
• Bid Preparation: Build complete proposal packages, including cost breakdowns, project inclusions, and exclusions.
• Vendor Coordination: Collect and compare pricing quotes from subcontractors, material suppliers, and trucking services.
• Project Collaboration: Meet with project managers, field superintendents, and clients to review site conditions and scope details.
