Job summary

CRH's APAC-Atlantic, Asheville Division, located in Candler, NC, is hiring a Skilled Equipment Operator to perform groundwork and paving duties. You will operate asphalt paver, screed, distributor, and roller equipment, ensuring smooth material flow and adherence to job specs.

The role requires safety compliance, ability to follow instructions, and teamwork with the crew; independent work and attention to detail are essential. A high school diploma and related experience are commonly required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to operate paving equipment safely and efficiently.
• Must follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must work well in a team and also be able to work independently with attention to detail.
• Minimum of 1 year experience and/or training in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Control material taken into the paver and depths of material distributed through the machine.
• Understand paving industry aspects including grades, milling, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, and job specifications.
• Operate paving machines to push dump trucks and maintain a constant flow of asphalt or other material.
• Inspect, clean, maintain, and repair equipment; report malfunctions to supervisors.
• Coordinate truck dumping and shoveling as needed.
• Shovel blacktop, control traffic, and set up/tear down equipment.
