Job summary

Dickerson & Bowen, a paving and construction contractor, seeks a Construction Laborer to support asphalt paving and related activities across project sites in central and southern Mississippi.

Responsibilities include site preparation, grading, traffic control, shoveling, mixing concrete and asphalt, and assisting with layouts. A High School Diploma or GED is required; a valid driver’s license is preferred. Applicants must have physical stamina and the ability to lift 50–100 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; on-the-job training provided.
• Ability to follow instructions and work accurately under supervision.
• Physically capable of long periods standing, bending, and lifting.
• Valid driver’s license preferred; CDL Class B with Tanker endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Digs, spreads, and levels dirt and gravel using hand tools.
• Supports asphalt paving and related construction activities.
• Performs traffic control/flagging and maintains a clean work area.
• Drops and places concrete, asphalt, and other materials as directed.
• Assists with layouts, forms removal, and basic site preparation.

This role performs a wide range of essential tasks, including site preparation, grading, paving support, and assisting with the installation or repair of various structures. Responsibilities also include traffic control/flagging, shoveling, maintaining clean and safe work areas, and setting up or completing stringline layouts.
